Burton Partners is one of the leading boutique commercial property firms in New Zealand. We have very experienced commercial property lawyers, reflected in the scale and quality of the mandates we have been entrusted with. We were recognised in the industry and was nominated as the finalist for the “Property & Construction Specialist Law Firm of the Year” for the 2018 and 2019 New Zealand Law Awards.
Leasing
We have considerable experience and expertise in leasing matters. As an illustration of our experience in this area, we currently undertake nationwide leasing and portfolio management for a number of retail entities.
In addition to leasing portfolio work, we have significant experience in design, build & lease solutions for clients. We have assisted our clients in successfully completing new building and leasing projects for various building typologies, ranging from new factories, distribution centres and fast food restaurants, through to head offices.
In addition to occupational leases, we have some of the best experience in New Zealand in ground leasing. Having acted in relation to the establishment of the Viaduct Harbour and other leasehold projects, we have gone on to act on the acquisition of further leasehold precincts in Penrose and are currently involved in the day to day management of significant ground lease portfolios which involves negotiating leases and working through renewal and rent review processes.
Construction Contracts
We have been involved in a number of significant construction contract projects around Auckland and wider New Zealand in recent times, including construction contract negotiations for the significant Queenstown retail and residential developments, and various apartment tower developments in Auckland.
Acquisition and Disposal
We also advise and act on a broad spectrum of property and real estate acquisition and disposal matters, including preparation and negotiation of agreement for sale and purchase, conducting due diligence investigation, and assisting international clients on their application with the Overseas Investment Office.
